...could be a sweet dream, or a beautiful nightmare...

I've finally caught up with my NaNo WriMo schedule and hit the 12500 mark. Now that I'm back on schedule, I'm giving myself a break from all that writing before I go to bed. This year is my first time ever participating in National Nove(l)mber Writing Month. I joined late on the 10th/November so I was behind even before I started. To make up for it, I needed to write 2500 words a day to catch up. Things weren't going at all too well on my first few days but now I'm all back on schedule after sitting from 8am in the morning until now writing away; and as you can see, I'm so happy I've finally caught back up that I keep on repeating myself. God, I really need to stop!

I would never believed it would be possible for me to write 50K in a month, but at the moment it's looking possible. I've learned a lot from all that writing I did today.

  • To stop bloody hell editing - keep that for the end. Right now, just spill out your story. There were moments when I was just spilling my heart out and I was actually tearing up at two moments when I was writing a crucially emotional part, and I could feel it. It was an amazing experience and something in which happens far and wide for me. I want to be able to write with emotion, to write with the feeling. I know at the end maybe only one page will be eligible to keep, but at least I know I have that one page, and it will all be worth it.

  • To relax damnit. At first I sat in front of my laptop trying to spill the words out and man, did it feel like work? Writing is my love life dang it all. I know love is work, but you're supposed to enjoy it while you work at it. I found that listening to funky music really got me going.

    My current NaNo Wrimo playlist:
    Akon - Clap Again
    Akon ft Kataluna- Right Now
    Beyonce - Beautiful Nightmare
Usher ft Beyonce - In This Club.

Whenever I get a bit stiff from all that sitting I would blast out the songs and dance around for a bit. It's real fun. Say wot?!

  • To know when to stop. I aim to write 2500 words a day and I've reached my goal, so now I'm stopping. I don't want to push it. I have other things I should do. Other things in my life I should enjoy. Right now... I would really love to get some sleep in there - work tomorrow you know?

  • To be comfortable. We had an amazing hot day today. But I was comfortable in my homey shorts and shirt while I sprawled all over my chair writing in my unhealthy posture - I'm sure. I had tonnes of junk and a few apples to keep me happy while I wrote. I had my music and stole my sister's air-con to keep me cool. It's all about the atmosphere and your comfort - of course my room is still as dirty as pigs... someone convince me to clean it.

At some points my story sounds ridiculous, others it sounds so draggy, but I'm highly enjoying myself. It is a sci-fi/fantasy anyways, so some unbelievable stuff is only to be expected. My story is a dark Paranormal Romance. Its a new genre which I'm attempting, but it seems to be going well, more well than all my other stories which I'm putting down for this month, to let them stew for a bit while I enjoy some make believe.

I'm hoping to finish the 50k this month, but even if I don't, it would've been a lot of fun and great experience. C'mon, there is always next year - says the optimist =D

Happy writing everyone!

11 November 2008

WOW-zer! I suddenly had this confounding inspiration for a fantasy/sci-fi novel which is burning through me and I had to get it out. So now I'm madly writing it. It's just an amazing feeling. Loving it!

I thought I would use this sudden inspiration for NaNo WriMo. I had no intention of joining this, but I just did yesterday. I'm ten days behind so I gotta get my act together and catch up. I have calculated that if I write 2500 words each day, I will be able to write 50000 words in the twenty days remaining. Oh hell YEA!

02 November 2008, Sunday

I love writing. It's my life. I don't think I could live without it. If anyone ever said my writing was a piece of trash, I would still write.

Because it fulfills me.

Let me write.

Let me be...

Who I want to be.
