Together Yet So Far

“There’s no such thing as ghosts!” Carrie mimicked her colleague – Micheal, who had asked her out that night.

“Talking to yourself again?”

“How many times do I have to tell you not to sneak up on me?” she whirled to face Jason - the ghost that resided at her house when she first bought it.

He grinned.

“Well at least knock or something” she muttered when he continued to look unrepentant.

“So what’s up with all of that” he gestured to her outfit.

That, is my Halloween costume. A witch” she continued when he didn’t comment.

“I remember now. The Halloween date.

“It’s not a date” for the past few years she hadn’t found the interest in any one enough to date.

Beep Beep.

“That’s your phone” he reminded her evilly.

She picked it up. “Micheal’s here to take me.”

“You have a nice night.”

“Thanks for going with me tonight” Micheal murmured close to her face.

She looked into his turquoise eyes and she felt disappointed. She felt nothing for him, and maybe it showed on her face, because he pulled back.

“Thanks” she said hastily to cover the awkward silence “I had a great time.”

“Yeah. Me too.”

“Well, I guess I’ll see you at work.”

“Sure thing Carrie.”

She waved good bye and walked up her front steps to her porch, home, where Jason waited unseen.

“How did it go?”

She looked at Jason, as tears blurred her vision. “He’s not the one.” Cos you are the one.

NANO WRIMO 2009

01 November 2009, NANO WRIMO entry

SYNOPIS

Twins!
But of course Matthew Wright knew that from the start.
After Matthew and his brother go on a blind double date organized by his far too meddlesome sister, he invites his date out to meet again. Who would've known that it was not his date who turned up but her other sister?

The Other Brother

It was quite unfortunate that Mary fell for the other brother and she was not so sure if she was fortunate or not to be identical twins with her sister. Taking the chance she would have otherwise never had, she goes on a date in her sister's stead. Little does she know that Matthew recognizes her game immediately.

Excerpt:

Sherry stared at her sister with distaste.

“Are you going out with him again tonight?”

Mary dimpled and blushed rosily “Yes.” she knew her excitement was making her sister twitchy.

“Why?”

“Because I like him” she said more nonchalantly than she felt, turning to check herself one last time in the mirror.

“I don’t know why you would”

She just smiled at her sister's muttering. She looked exactly like her sister usually would; chic, sophisticated and sexy.

Perfect.
